EA has really messed this up. I bought this for my son who is 11 but no matter what Xbox parental settings are changed he cannot play online. Apparently EA creates an Origin account based on the Xbox profile and if that child is under 13 you cannot play online no matter what changes you make. EA won't help, they're making parental decisions on behalf of customers.
The only work arounds are to give your child a full adult account or let them play on your account.
